As I’ve mentioned many times over in the Blog I don’t really consider myself a wildlife photographer. For starters I simply don’t have the patience to sit in a hide waiting for that once in a lifetime shot. However, whilst out and about I always keep an eye out for local wildlife and if I have a camera to hand I’ll take a photograph. This fun quiz features some of those photographs and although not remotely festive was put together for the Huntingdonshire Local Group of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust Christmas meeting. You need to identify the species in each magnified image which, although blurred to make the quiz more of a challenge, show distinguishing characteristics that will hopefully help you to identify the species. Click on any thumbnail to display a larger image - you can then scroll through the images using the lightbox slideshow function. No doubt you will find some harder to identify than others. You don’t need to know the scientific name but in order to score full points you need to give the full common name of each species e.g. if one of the images featured a wood mouse giving the answer ‘mouse’ would only score half a point. Although all of the images were taken in the UK the wildlife aren’t necessarily UK native species i.e. there may be some migrant species. If you get stuck on one particular image click on the answer link which will take you to the original of that image. The winning team at the Wildlife Trust meeting who had just 30 minutes to complete the quiz scored 24.5 points out of 30: without taking a peek at the answers can you beat this score?
